​MB Executive Chauffeur Services offer unique and friendly chauffeur driven executive car hire for business and pleasure. Herts Review got some insight of how the company operates from the founder Mick Bungey.
 
After 10 years in the business working with a private hire vehicle Business, Mick launched MB Executive Chauffeur Services in May 2019 offering a service with a difference. Mick’s background was in Furniture Sales where he spent over 20 years selling education and office furniture from major manufacturers and suppliers. “My sales career came to an end due to a reorganization in my last company and I was thinking about what I will do next. I am friendly guy and like meeting new people and love driving. I analysed what sectors would need this skillset and arrived at Chauffeur Services.
 
Mick took the leap and joined a friend that owned a private hire vehicle service based in Potters Bar 10 years ago. “We were doing really well, and the business was growing. We had close to 25 drivers at the time I left. We were a unit like a family. Unfortunately, there were changes in management and we could no longer maintain the same service levels. We lost drivers, customers, and business. I was not happy and decided it was time for a change. I decided to launch my own outfit focusing on a different niche”.
 
MB Executive Chauffeur Services focuses on more up-market clients. “I have done everything from school run to driving people to the Doctors in the former outfit I worked for. I decided to change things up a little bit and focus on airport transfers, seaport cruises and weddings for higher end clients”.
 
Although there were challenges attracting customers following the launch in May last year, things gradually picked up with more advertising in local newspapers and social media. “Business was going very well especially towards the end of last year to early this year before the coronavirus pandemic. A combination of repeat clients, recommendations and business from my old regulars helped our growth. It was busy and exciting”.
 
With the global travel restrictions due to covid-19, business has been quite slow. “It has been challenging. Corporate air travel is almost non-existent so it has hit business quite hard, but I am staying positive that there will be a turnaround soon. All I can do is hope for the best”. In the meantime, Mick has spent some of his downtime doing voluntary work supporting the local foodbank and other charity groups like Community First and Homeless in Barnet. He has helped deliver shopping and medication to the elderly or people that have to self-isolate in hotels or hostels. “In addition to helping other people, it is a great way of keeping in touch and getting my face out there”.
 
Mick has a positive outlook. When this is all over, he is looking forward to growing the business and spending time with his family.
